QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL
The quality standards required by KCL have always been an essential element in our ability to ensure continued repeat business from our existing clients.

The introduction of AS/NZS ISO 9000:1994 Series requirements has not changed our approach to Quality Assurance - KCL has quite specifically not sought accreditation, but has developed a Manual based on the AS/NZS ISO 9000:1994 Series.

Our Quality Assurance Manual has been accepted by our Clients on every major project with which we have been involved. All KCL’s subcontractors are bound to follow our Quality Assurance Manual.

NB: KCL SAFETY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE MANUALS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW ON REQUEST.

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH POLICY
The Occupational Safety and Health of all our employees is the highest priority to the management of KCL.

KCL is committed to achieving the highest standard of performance in occupational safety and health, with the aim of creating and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

CONSISTENT WITH THIS KCL WILL:

  • seek continuous improvement in its occupational safety and health performance, taking into account evolving management practices and knowledge.
  • comply with all applicable OH&S laws, regulations and standards and, where standards do not exist, adapt and apply procedures that reflect KCL’s commitment to safety and health.
  • involve employees and subcontractors in the improvement of safety and health performance, train individual employees and hold all supervisors, employees and contractors accountable for their areas of responsibility for safety and health.
  • manage risk by implementing management systems to identify, access and control hazards in the workplace.
  • ensure that all KCL employees, subcontractors and visitors are informed of and understand their obligations under this policy.
  • communicate openly with employees on occupational safety and health issues, and contribute to the development of safety and health policy and procedures.
  • promptly and completely investigate, correct and report all accidents, incidents and hazards.
  • support employees, supervisors, safety representatives and safety committees in their efforts to maintain and improve safety and health in the workplace, with adequate resources and facilities.
  • only engage subcontractors who can demonstrate a safety commitment, which will complement KCL’s own standards.
  • ensure that safety and health in the workplace receives equal priority with all other business activities.

OPERATIONS (SAFETY)
All employees and subcontractors are required to complete a KCL site induction relevant to each worksite. Our Safety procedures and operations are contained in our Company Safety Manual. The Safety Manual is continuously reviewed to ensure that all procedures comply with Client and State OH&S Legislation. A copy of the KCL Safety Manual is kept on each work site.

Regular job safety audits are undertaken by the Site Supervisor and elected Health and Safety Representative who report directly to the Site Project Manager on safety related matters. As several of our workers have been trained and had experience as elected Health and Safety Representatives, we have found benefits from a Committee approach to situations, to find solutions before they become problems.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS STATEMENT
KCL is very proud of its record of minimal lost time through Industrial Disputation.

Our Company has never had lost time as a result of any direct dispute with its own employees.

This record has been due to the following:

  • Employees being able to actually see that the company has been concerned for their welfare.
  • Ensuring that all award, over/award and site allowances are always paid promptly.
  • Site amenities are always of a high standard.
  • Our Safety Program is properly administered.
  • A qualified "First Aid at Work" person is on site.
  • The engagement of carefully selected sub-contractors who are prepared to be part of the above cooperative environment.

Our Company has always used the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry or equivalent nationwide organisations to handle any negotiations relating to formalising agreements.
